After school attacks, police stay at schools. Patrols from Monday "until further notice"
Since Wednesday there have been several attacks in Polish schools. Police have checked nearly 50,000 schools and other institutions and detained 76 people. From Monday officers will be in and around schools, and on Sunday morning the prime minister called a briefing.
On Wednesday in Ostrołęka a 19-year-old attacked nine people with a knife at a school. He faces nine charges, including attempted murder of several people using explosives. On Thursday a 15-year-old attacked three people at a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny; a 37-year-old school employee died. On Saturday a 21-year-old woman injured three people at an adult school on Mińska Street in Warsaw. Police have not confirmed any link between the incidents.

By 6am on Saturday police had checked nearly 50,000 institutions, recorded 231 incidents and detained 76 people. On Friday 24,000 officers were deployed at schools. From Monday patrols will be in and around schools. "They will be there as long as needed," said Iwona Kijowska of Police HQ.
Briefing at the prime minister's office
On Sunday at 8:30am Donald Tusk held a briefing with the ministers of education, interior, health and digital affairs and the special services coordinator. "We are dealing with a very grim fashion for violence," the prime minister said. Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak noted that Russia regularly tries to destabilise Poland but said "evidence, specifics" are needed first.
