Price war in Polish showrooms: Ford Kuga 39,000 zloty cheaper, Cupra Leon down 29,000
European brands are cutting prices, while China's MG has two models in the top ten registrations. In September Poland registered 56,357 new cars, 13% more than a year earlier.
Auto Świat lists the biggest cuts. The 150 hp Ford Kuga 1.5 EcoBoost now starts at PLN 119,800, about PLN 39,000 less than before. The Cupra Leon 1.5 TSI 150 is more than PLN 29,000 cheaper at PLN 109,900. The Volkswagen Polo 1.0 MPI costs PLN 66,600 and the Skoda Kamiq Easy just over PLN 83,000, PLN 8,500 less. Skoda's "Time for explorers" promotion runs until 17 October. "The price pressure is in full swing," the author concludes.
The market in September
According to Samar and the central vehicle register, 56,357 new passenger cars were registered in September, 13.04% more than a year earlier. Year to date the total is 470,520 (+9.96%). The Toyota Corolla was the best seller (2,144), ahead of the Skoda Octavia (1,814) and Kia Sportage (1,549). Two MG models made the top ten: the HS in 6th place (1,031) and the ZS in 8th (978).
Electric cars down
Electric car sales fell 22% year on year, the fifth monthly drop in a row. Their market share is 6.1%, down from 8.9% a year ago. The PZPM industry association partly blames the lack of a subsidy programme.
