BYD Atto 8 coming to Poland in 2027: 775 hp and 10–70% charging in 5 minutes
BYD has confirmed that the seven-seat Atto 8 electric SUV will reach Polish showrooms in the first quarter of 2027. On a Flash charger it charges from 10 to 70% in 5 minutes, but Poland has no such chargers yet.
BYD confirmed on Monday that the Atto 8 is coming to Poland. The seven-seat electric SUV will arrive in showrooms in the first quarter of 2027 and, in its most powerful version, will have 775 hp. Its biggest selling point is meant to be charging: on a BYD Flash charger it goes from 10 to 70% in 5 minutes. The catch is that Poland has no such chargers yet, and the car's price has still not been announced.
A big SUV in place of the Tang
The Atto 8 is 504 cm long and 199.6 cm wide, with seven seats inside. It replaces the Tang, until now the brand's large SUV, in BYD's range. The boot holds between 270 and 1,960 litres depending on how the seats are set, and there is an extra 136-litre compartment under the bonnet.
Rear-wheel or all-wheel drive
The Atto 8 has a 115 kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive version has 462 hp and up to 653 km of WLTP range. The all-wheel-drive version offers 775 hp and 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, but at the cost of range, which drops to 602 km. For a family that does more long trips than standing starts, the less powerful version may well be the more sensible choice.
Five-minute charging, but where?
On a BYD Flash Charging station the Atto 8 should charge from 10 to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10 to 97% in 9 minutes. The second figure is also given by Britain's Auto Express. Those times are close to a stop at a petrol station. Poland, however, does not yet have a single such charger. In a press release, BYD says the first Flash Charging station in Poland, rated at up to 1 MW, will open "by the end of this year". By the end of 2027 there should be 3,000 across Europe. Times this short will not be possible on ordinary fast chargers.
Price still unknown
The Atto 8 is due in Polish showrooms in the first quarter of 2027, but BYD has not yet given a price. That price will decide whether a large Chinese electric SUV finds buyers in Poland. Chinese brands are pushing harder into Europe: there are about 20 of them at this year's Paris show, twice as many as in 2024.
Leapmotor B03 is on its way too
A smaller electric car from Leapmotor, the B03, is also heading for the Polish market. It has 197 hp, a WLTP range of 390 km and a 14.6-inch screen. "From what I know, the Leapmotor B03 will appear in Poland in spring 2027 at the earliest," writes Krzysztof Wojciechowicz of Auto Świat. He estimates the car could cost around PLN 85,000, but that is his own forecast, not an official price.
