President signs special law for the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, plus two other bills
President Karol Nawrocki signed three laws on Friday. One of them concerns the organisation of the World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk in 2027.
The announcement came from the president's spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, at around 22:28 on Friday. “President Karol Nawrocki has signed the following laws,” he said, according to WP.
A Jamboree on Sobieszewo Island
The first is a special law on the 26th World Scout Jamboree. The event will take place from 29 July to 9 August 2027 on Sobieszewo Island in Gdańsk. It is organised by the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP) and the World Organization of the Scout Movement. A Jamboree is an international gathering of scouts from many countries, held every few years. A special law is one written for a single specific event or project.
An agreement with Japan
The second law ratifies the social security agreement between Poland and Japan, signed in Tokyo on 15 April 2026. According to Poland's Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, it “will make it easier to access benefits, increase protection for workers and help avoid paying contributions twice.” Such agreements matter mainly to people who work or have worked in both countries.
Trade unions: documents in PDF too
The third law amends the Trade Unions Act. Requests from trade unions and works councils, as well as employers' replies, may also be submitted electronically, for example as a PDF file.
The signed laws will be published in Poland's Journal of Laws. No date has been given for when they take effect.
