Poland approves 102 bn zł civil protection programme for 2027–2031

On Tuesday the government adopted a civil protection and civil defence programme worth more than 102.4 billion zł until 2031.

Key facts

  • About 30 billion zł will go to the regions, where provincial governors will decide how to spend it.
  • The money will fund shelters, rescue equipment and bases, continuity of water and power supplies, emergency stockpiles, cybersecurity and secure government communications.
  • The programme continues funding from 2025–2026, when about 34 billion zł was allocated to civil protection.

What the government says

  • Prime Minister Donald Tusk says Poles will feel month by month that the country is becoming safer, including in crises.
  • Government spokesman Adam Szłapka says the programme is above all about organisation and steady funding.
