Motor win 3–2 in Radom with a late goal, spoiling Carver's debut; GKS Katowice beat Wieczysta
Motor Lublin beat Radomiak 3–2 on Monday, with Simon scoring the winner in the final minutes. John Carver's first game in charge of the home side ended in defeat. In a postponed round-3 game, GKS Katowice beat Wieczysta 2–1.
Monday's round-10 Ekstraklasa game in Radom was a meeting of two sides from the bottom half of the table, and it produced five goals. It had been 2–2 since the 80th minute, but Motor Lublin struck the decisive blow right at the end, when Simon scored the winner. For Radomiak it was a third straight defeat, and for new coach John Carver a losing debut.
Five goals and disputed details
The match kicked off at 18:00 and, according to Polsat Sport, was watched by 8,008 spectators. Before the decisive goal, the scorers were, in order, Koperski (24th minute), N'Diaye (53rd), Czubak (70th, a penalty awarded by referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski) and Kingue, who headed in on 80 minutes. Interia and Polsat Sport put Simon's goal in the 90+2nd minute; WP SportoweFakty has it in the 90th.
Reports also differ on a disallowed goal in the first half. According to WP SportoweFakty, a Motor goal was ruled out in the 20th minute; according to one live-score service, it was a Radomiak goal in the 22nd.
A bad start for Carver
John Carver, who managed Lechia last season, could not halt Radomiak's poor run. Sources disagree on whom he replaced: WP SportoweFakty names Kaczmarek, while Eska names Rafał Grzyb. The defeat pushed Radomiak down from 15th to 16th, on 8 points. Motor climbed from 16th to 14th and now have 9 points.
"I'm his fan"
The hero of the night in Radom was Simon. His goal earned Motor three points and lifted the Lublin side off 16th place. "A great kid, really, I'm a fan of his," Misiura said of him, as quoted by Kurier Lubelski. He also admitted that "demons from the Legia Warsaw game appeared in my head".
GKS get the better of Wieczysta
At 20:30 GKS Katowice played their postponed round-3 game against Wieczysta and won 2–1. The goals came in the 15th, 62nd and 74th minutes. Szkurin scored the first and Nowak the last, while reports differ on who headed in the 62nd-minute goal: Polsat Sport and gol24 say Białek, Interia says Dujmović. Wieczysta played without their head coach on the bench: Kopiec was suspended, and his assistant Petre took his place.
GKS now have 18 points (six wins and four defeats) and are fifth; in ten games they have not drawn once. Wieczysta, with 8 points, are 15th.
Tight at the bottom, Górnik on top
It is getting crowded at the bottom of the table: just one point separates 14th-placed Motor, 15th-placed Wieczysta and 16th-placed Radomiak. Nothing has changed at the top. Górnik Zabrze lead with 25 points, and third-placed Legia (22) remain the only unbeaten side in the league. Carver faces an urgent task: ending the losing run before the situation at the bottom gets even more complicated.
