Marvel's Wolverine sold 1.9 million copies in 3 days, but fell short of Spider-Man

Alinea Analytics estimates that Marvel's Wolverine sold 1.9 million copies in its first three days. It is a strong launch, but weaker than the Spider-Man games.

Marvel's Wolverine, the latest game from Insomniac Games, launched on 15 September as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. According to Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, it sold 1.9 million copies in its first three days.

Behind Spider-Man

That is a lot, but not a record. 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man sold 3.3 million copies in three days, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million in its first 24 hours. Wolverine did beat Death Stranding 2, which has sold 1.8 million copies since June 2025.

Alinea Analytics estimates revenue so far at about $130 million, which puts it among the top six PS5 earners of 2026. The budget is estimated at about $305 million, so more than half of it has yet to be earned back.

Physical copies still matter

GSD data published by The Game Business shows that physical copies made up 35% of the game's PS5 sales, and as much as 51% in Europe.

Patches after player feedback

Insomniac has released several patches, toning down the scent trails that show Logan's senses and adding toggles to turn them off. A 7 October update lets players switch story trails on with the hint button. More changes are planned.
