Kraków votes in a mayoral run-off on Sunday, polls open 7:00–21:00
On Sunday 11 October, Kraków residents will choose their mayor in the second round of an early election. Polling stations will be open from 7:00 to 21:00.
The run-off is between (in alphabetical order) Łukasz Gibała and Monika Piątkowska. The election is being held early because residents voted to recall mayor Aleksander Miszalski in a referendum in May. Until a successor is chosen, the city is run by Stanisław Kracik.
Election silence
An election silence is in force in Kraków on Saturday. It lasts until voting ends at 21:00 on Sunday. Campaigning is not allowed during this time, so until the polls close we are reporting only practical information about the vote.
How and where to vote
Polling stations will be open on Sunday 11 October from 7:00 to 21:00. Radio Kraków reports that in this election voters cannot change where they vote or obtain a certificate allowing them to vote elsewhere. This means people can vote only at the polling station for their own district.
Voters need a document confirming their identity. The address of your polling station can be checked on the city's website or the National Electoral Commission's website.
The city is providing free transport to polling stations for people with disabilities and for older people who have difficulty getting around.
