Legia v Wisła without away fans as PZPN fines Legia PLN 250,000 per match
Sunday's match between Legia and Wisła Kraków will be played without away fans. The PZPN Licensing Committee has fined Legia PLN 250,000 for every home match without the required number of seats for visiting supporters.
Legia closed the away section on 28 September until the end of 2026. On 8 October permission was granted for matches to be played without away fans.
A fine for every match
Legia have five more home matches without an away section before the end of the year. At PLN 250,000 each, that adds up to PLN 1.25 million. The club can appeal.
The PZPN decision refers to an “unauthorised temporary closure” of the away section. According to the federation, the permission granted to the club “does not release it from the obligation to comply with licensing requirements”.
League and police respond
The Ekstraklasa points out that the law on mass events “takes precedence”. The league also expressed “disapproval of the timing and manner of the proceedings”. Warsaw police say the decision “lies solely with Legia”.
It is not the first such penalty in the league. In March Śląsk Wrocław were fined PLN 1 million for refusing entry to Wisła fans.
A match near the top
Before this round Legia were second with 19 points and Wisła Kraków fourth with 17. Górnik Zabrze led the table with 22. The match kicks off on Sunday at 20:15.
Wisła owner Jarosław Królewski said, as quoted by Interia: “We have already held one demonstration on this issue and that is absolutely enough.”
