Hurkacz faces Davidovich Fokina for a Shanghai quarter-final spot: a rematch of the Chengdu final
On Tuesday Hubert Hurkacz plays Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the last 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai. The Spaniard beat him in the Chengdu final on 29 September and leads their head-to-head 5–2.
The match is scheduled second on centre court, after Alexander Zverev against Alexander Bublik, which starts at 12:00 Polish time. WP SportoweFakty says the Pole will take the court around 14:00; Super Express says between 13:30 and 14:30. It will be shown on Polsat Sport 1.
A Chengdu rematch
On 29 September Davidovich Fokina beat Hurkacz 6–4, 7–6 in the Chengdu final in an hour and 46 minutes. It was his second title of 2026. "I now know how to deal with the pressure in the tight moments," he said then. On Sunday the Spaniard beat Frances Tiafoe 7–6, 4–6, 7–6, saving a match point at 5–6 in the third set. Afterwards he wrote "I am back" on the camera lens.
Hurkacz's path
In Shanghai the Pole has beaten James Duckworth 6–3, 7–6, Novak Djokovic 6–4, 6–3 and Zhou Yi 6–2, 3–6, 6–3. Reaching the last 16 has already earned him USD 105,720, about PLN 413,000. He trails Davidovich Fokina 2–5 in their meetings.
