Verstappen on pole for the Singapore sprint, which starts at 11:00
Max Verstappen topped Friday's sprint qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix. The 21-lap sprint starts on Saturday at 11:00 Polish time.
Verstappen set a time of 1:31.156. George Russell was 0.120 s slower and Charles Leclerc, in third, 0.243 s. Behind them were Oscar Piastri (+0.298 s), Lando Norris (+0.431 s), Lewis Hamilton (+0.546 s) and Kimi Antonelli (+0.693 s).
Verstappen said: “It's always close here in Singapore.”
Yellow flags and a Perez crash
According to Formula1.com, Verstappen was investigated over yellow flags in SQ1 but received no penalty. Hadjar and Gasly had lap times deleted in SQ3. In SQ1 Perez crashed, bringing out the red flag.
Antonelli leads the standings
Antonelli leads the drivers' championship with 320 points. Russell is second on 236 and Hamilton third on 214. Leclerc has 191, while Norris and Verstappen have 188 each. Seven rounds remain this season.
The weekend schedule
This is the last sprint weekend of the season. The 21-lap sprint starts on Saturday at 11:00, followed by qualifying for Sunday's race at 15:00. The 62-lap Grand Prix starts on Sunday at 14:00. All times are Polish time, and Eleven Sports 1 is showing the sessions.
