Diesel back above 8 zloty: price caps for 10–12 October and the forecast for the week

The maximum price of diesel for Saturday, Sunday and Monday is PLN 8.06 a litre, 24 groszy more than on Friday. Analysts do not expect prices to fall this week.

Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka set the caps for the weekend and Monday. A litre of 95 petrol can cost at most PLN 6.97, 98 petrol PLN 7.85 and diesel PLN 8.06. On Friday the caps were PLN 6.90, 7.77 and 7.82, so diesel rose the most, by 24 groszy.

Wholesale prices and oil are up

According to Reflex, wholesale diesel rose by 22 groszy per litre net between 5 and 10 October, and petrol by 17 groszy. On Friday Orlen's wholesale price was PLN 6,145 per cubic metre for Eurosuper 95 and PLN 7,160 for diesel. Brent crude costs about USD 104 a barrel.

Forecasts for 12–18 October

e-petrol expects average prices of PLN 6.89–7.02 for 95 petrol, PLN 7.93–8.06 for diesel and PLN 3.26–3.34 for LPG. Reflex forecasts PLN 6.99 for petrol, PLN 8.05 for diesel and PLN 3.39 for LPG. "Everything indicates that the situation will not improve noticeably in October," Reflex analysts say.

The VAT on fuel, cut to 8% under the CPN package, stays in place until the end of 2026 and does not cover LPG. The minister will announce the next caps on Monday.
